I was given the onion once it was chopped through to the ceramic tile, ready for me personally to peel back skin I essential using the tweezers.
I then put piece of onionskin onto the microscope slip, making sure there was no retracts or wrinkles, and put a drop of iodine upon the go as well, to view through the microscope.
On my initial try the onion folded away so I was required to repeat the previous steps.
Then i placed an appliance cover slip, starting diagonally, to prevent any air bubbles in the middle the two layers. I then researched the part of pores and skin under the medium and strongest lenses with the microscope.
The iodine enabled me personally to see the cell wall, which in turn showed because dark brown, the nucleus that was darker yellow as well as the cytoplasm that appeared a gray colour.
I then received a detailed diagram of the things i had found through the zoom lens (see attached) before cleaning my operate.
I have seen both my individual cheek cellular and the red onion cell it has gained us a better comprehension of the make up of different skin cells. The iodine used in this kind of experiment allowed me to to identify different parts of the cell, though had I more time I possibly could of used a more long lasting stain which could of demonstrated a lot more through the microscope.
Also perhaps if I had got the time to experiment with different spots I may possess found several different results. The iodine would of dried up the onion skin area within a short space of time thus had I been taking a look at it longer this would certainly not of recently been a good solution to work with.
However , I managed to identify most of the cellular, although the 1st piece of epidermis folded on to the microscope slide, the other caused me no problems.
On the whole it was an effective experiment.
